  Leitura agradável e muito empolgante, daquele género que não conseguimos largar devido a querer saber mais, e mais, e o que acontece a seguir, e como acaba. Linguagem fluida e corrente, que se lê depressa mesmo com algumas voltas e reviravoltas no enredo.

 Traz as aventuras de Fable, filha de um importante comerciante chamado Saint, qua a abandonou numa ilha após a morte da sua mulher, Isolde. Fable tenta sobreviver com dificuldade num mundo de homens austero e deceptivo, e lembra-se das palavras do pai sobre a sua herança, que são o único incentivo que tem para sair daquela ilha e se lhe juntar. Mas nada corre como deseja mesmo quando consegue sair da ilha onde vivia, ou mesmo quando chega a Ceros onde o pai está. Vive uma longa viagem, apesar de curta temporalmente, abordo do navio Marigold de descobertas, suspeitas e quase amigos e muitas recordações de tempos idos. Esta viagem no Marigold é uma aprendizagem de vida  com novas pessoas (Auster, Hamish, Paj, Willa e West), que mostram-lhe o que é ser um familia, mesmo com os seus intimos segredos, algo que não tem desde que a mãe faleceu. Lá mais para o fim da história Fable encontra algo mais precioso na companhia de West mas não sabe se conseguirá resisitir.
