Aaprendemos o seu início com a familia de Joaquin Rosa e as preocupações existentes aquando do lançamento, a pressão exercida na familia directa, e indirecta, bem como as possíveis consequências mundiais de tal aventura.

Ficamos a conhecer mais dois rapazes, Orion, promissor escritor com problemas de coração e uma familia adoptiva muito especial que o acolheu e o conforta, e Valentino, directamente saído da pequena cidade que o viu nascer para New York para ser modelo e as coisas não correm logo bem na primeira casa. Conhecemos igualmente Mateo e Rufus antes das coisas se desviarem do seu percurso de família ter descambado, para quando lemos no primeiro livro.

Leitura agradável, com a utilização de clichés dos contos de fadas, dando-lhe uma nova roupa mais moderna mas ao mesmo tempo fantasiosa. Aqui verificamos que "a culpa é da madrasta", "o príncipe me salvará" e outros que tanto se interiorizaram na nossa sociedade através dos contos populares que regem a nossa vida, até certa idade, não acontecem aqui muito pelo contrário. Mundo distópico onde prevalece a amizade entre as irmãs ao longo da história, em que a ajuda da madrasta é verificada, e cuja pessoa apesar dos seus defeitos somente quer a saúde das suas enteadas, e ainda o príncipe, no principio só sorrisos e prendas e depois torna-se cobarde, incapaz de sair no ciclo vicioso em que se encontra ao  contrário do irmão que é referido.

Temos o confronto da personagem principal primeiro com o meio ambiente onde se encontra, tanto no local de nascimento com a escassez e depois no belíssimo local com muita gente a trabalhar, com famílias e bem nutrida, depois o confronto consigo própria pelas suas ilusões ao ser confrontada pela realidade, de é um sacrifício entregue pelo seu marido como forma de salvar ele e a família dele e igualmente todos os humanos que vivem na ilha em boas condições salubres, e por fim, o confronto com os seus limites físicos e falta de recursos ao ser prisioneira.

Gostei, não é um caso de contos de fadas.
